There will be no entry in the Domino log

The Backup/Restore program is doing the work at the file/OS level - the Domino server has no say in this, nor is it informed by the restore task that it has been done
And if the restore is done to the same physical (or virtual) drive as the original, inside the Domino data directory structure, it will never replicate with itself, but may replicate with other servers (because there will be two dbs with the same repid on the server)
So good practice is to;
1. restore the old db to a file location not accessed directly by the Domino server
2. navigate to this db in the Notes client and use the Notes Copy to create the new copy wherever you want it to be
3. delete the restored db
